Spray Tanning Alert

Last updated 4 years ago

It is widely known that exposure to UV rays increases a person’s risk of developing skin cancer, which is why many people opt for spray-on tans instead of tanning outdoors or in tanning beds. Yet, as this news clip explains, spray tans may not be as safe as formerly thought.

According to Memorial Hospital’s Dr. Cynthia Anderson, the chemicals used in spray tans may accumulate within the skin over time, leading to DNA damage. Inhaling fumes while spray tanning may also be harmful, so if you crave a golden glow, opt for self-tanning lotion instead.
