Jacksonville, FL – Memorial Health and St. Vincent’s HealthCare have come to an agreement over the development of a Memorial Health proposed 85-bed acute care hospital on Jacksonville’s Westside.
Memorial Health was granted a Certificate of Need (CON) by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) late last year. St. Vincent’s HealthCare originally opposed construction of the new hospital but a series of negotiations over several months resulted in a solution agreeable to both parties.
“We are delighted that the barriers to convenient, quality health care have been eliminated for the Westside,” said James B. Wood, President & CEO of Memorial Hospital. “In our extensive discussions with residents of the Westside, we have repeatedly heard of their desire to have ready access to emergency care, specialty care, and a hospital. With this agreement, we now have the go-ahead to begin to work with the Westside community to design the health care system of the future.”
